Olive oil production in Gaza has plummeted after Israeli attacks damaged around 90% of the territory's olive groves and cut the number of operating production facilities from 39 to just eight. The figures are being widely shared by commentators highlighting the destruction of Palestinian agriculture and livelihoods alongside calls for a ceasefire.
Why now: Ongoing war in Gaza and renewed attention to the scale of agricultural destruction are keeping the story in circulation.
