Report Alleges Houthis Building Advanced Missiles With Help From China
A new report claims Yemen's Houthi movement is developing advanced missile capabilities with assistance from China, an allegation that would mark a significant escalation in the external backing of the group. The Houthis have already targeted shipping in the Red Sea with existing missile and drone arsenals. The claim has not been independently verified, and neither Beijing nor the Houthis has publicly responded to the report.
Why now: Allegations of Chinese involvement with the Iran-aligned Houthis would have major implications for Red Sea security and US-China relations, drawing wide attention.
