Mormon church donates $1 million against Idaho abortion measure
Original: LDS Church donates $1 million to fight Idaho abortion initiative
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has donated $1 million to a campaign opposing a ballot initiative in Idaho that would protect abortion rights. The contribution makes the Utah-based church a major financial backer of efforts to defeat the measure, drawing attention to the role of religious institutions in state abortion politics.
Why now: The donation highlights the church's direct financial intervention in a high-stakes abortion rights vote in Idaho.
