US Catholic bishops and evangelicals issue joint immigration declaration
Original: U.S. Catholic bishops, National Association of Evangelicals issue joint declaration on immigration
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the National Association of Evangelicals have issued a joint declaration on immigration. It is a rare united statement from the country's two largest Christian bodies on the treatment of migrants, and comes amid ongoing political debate in the United States over border policy and deportation. Details of the declaration's specific demands were not immediately available.
Why now: The unusual joint stance by major Christian bodies on a contentious US political issue is drawing attention.
