Original: Linux Foundation Launches BUILD Foundation to Support Bazel Ecosystem
The Linux Foundation has announced the creation of the BUILD Foundation, a new initiative dedicated to supporting the Bazel build ecosystem. Bazel, the open-source build and test tool originally developed by Google, will now have dedicated governance and community backing under the Linux Foundation's neutral, vendor-agnostic umbrella. The move is aimed at encouraging broader industry participation, long-term sustainability and collaborative development of Bazel and its related tooling across companies that rely on it.
Why now: The Linux Foundation's launch of a dedicated foundation for Bazel signals major industry commitment to the build tool's future, drawing attention from the developer community.
