Epic Games says its rebuilt Epic Games Launcher loads and runs faster than Valve's Steam client. The company has drawn attention for describing the new launcher as vibe-coded, meaning it was built largely with AI assistance. Gamers are debating both the speed claim and what AI-heavy development means for a flagship desktop app.

Why now: Epic is publicly claiming AI-assisted development made its launcher outperform Steam, a provocative claim in the PC gaming world.
