Trump suggests government leakers should 'be shot'
Original: Trump suggests those who leak government information should ‘be shot’
Donald Trump has suggested that people who leak government information should be shot, according to comments reported by Al Jazeera. The remarks drew immediate criticism from observers who called the rhetoric extreme and dangerous, particularly coming from a former president with a documented history of hostility toward whistleblowers and journalists who publish leaked material.
Why now: The violent framing of the remark from a leading political figure is sparking outrage and debate about the normalization of extreme rhetoric.
