FBI Director Kash Patel's Russia Post Sparks Backlash
Original: FBI Director Kash Patel's 'From Russia, with Love' Post Draws Backlash Amid Ukraine War
FBI Director Kash Patel is facing criticism after posting 'From Russia, with Love,' a phrase lifted from the James Bond novel and film, at a time when the United States is deeply involved in debates over support for Ukraine. Critics called the message flippant and inappropriate given Russia's war against Ukraine, while supporters read it as a lighthearted or tongue-in-cheek remark. The post quickly drew widespread commentary online.
Why now: The joke landed badly amid ongoing sensitivity over Russia's invasion of Ukraine and US policy toward Moscow.
