US military reportedly plans 'mother of all bombs' strike option against Iran
Original: Report: US military has plans to deploy ‘mother of all bombs’ against Iran if fighting resumes
The US military has prepared plans to deploy the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb, the largest non-nuclear weapon in its arsenal, against Iran if hostilities resume, according to a report cited by The Times of Israel. The disclosure comes amid continued tension between Washington and Tehran following this year's strikes, and is drawing attention to how far the US is willing to escalate if fighting breaks out again.
Why now: US-Iran tensions remain high after recent strikes, so reports of contingency plans for a massive weapon fuel debate about a possible resumption of conflict.
