North Korea fires strategic cruise missiles, possibly from submarine
Original: (2nd LD) N. Korea fires strategic cruise missiles, possibly from nuclear attack submarine
North Korea has fired strategic cruise missiles, which according to early reports may have been launched from a nuclear attack submarine. The test marks another show of force by Pyongyang amid ongoing tensions on the Korean Peninsula. Details on the exact launch platform and the missiles' range have not yet been confirmed, and South Korean and US authorities are reportedly analysing the launch.
Why now: North Korea's weapons tests routinely draw international attention, and a possible submarine-based launch would signal a new capability.
