Digital independence means no one can cut you off
Original: Digital unabhängig heißt: Niemand kann dich abschneiden. Nicht vom Preismodell eines einzelnen Anbieters abhängig sein.
A German-language commentary argues that digital independence means not being dependent on any single provider's pricing model. The piece, from the software firm gorgeit, calls for open standards, European providers and architectures that users own themselves, framing this as digital sovereignty. The argument taps into ongoing European debate about reducing reliance on large non-EU tech platforms and their pricing power.
Why now: Ongoing European debate about digital sovereignty and dependence on large tech providers
