Original: Die # EU will sparen – ausgerechnet beim # Klimaschutz ! 159 Milliarden Euro weniger im EU-Haushalt, rund 30 Milliarden
The EU is planning to cut around 159 billion euros from its budget, with roughly 30 billion euros less earmarked for climate and environmental programmes. A broad alliance of members of the European Parliament is criticising the plans, warning that scaling back climate funding could come at the expense of Europe's competitiveness.
Why now: A proposed EU budget that slashes climate funding has drawn criticism from a cross-party group of lawmakers.
