Alice Weidel would end German support for Ukraine

Original: Alice Weidel would pull the plug on German support for Ukraine

Alice Weidel, the co-leader of Germany's Alternative for Germany party, says she would cut off German support for Ukraine if she came to power. The statement, reported by The Economist, highlights the AfD's position against military and financial aid to Kyiv ahead of German political debate over the country's future role in the war.

Why now: Germany is a major backer of Ukraine, so the opposition's pledge to halt that support is politically significant.
