Art exhibition bridges Gaza and West Bank
Original: ‘Our works are next to each other’: Art bridges Gaza and West Bank
Artists from Gaza and the West Bank are showcasing their work side by side in a joint exhibition, with participants describing how their creations sit next to each other despite the physical separation of their home territories. The project highlights the difficulty Palestinians face in travelling between Gaza and the West Bank, using art as a way to connect communities that are otherwise cut off from one another.
Why now: Ongoing conflict and the severe restrictions on movement between Gaza and the West Bank make rare artistic collaboration between the two territories resonate widely.
