Netanyahu hits back at ex-Shin Bet chief's lawsuit

Original: 7+

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has responded to a lawsuit filed by a former Shin Bet chief, dismissing the legal action and saying the ex-security chief 'had my red phone number', implying he had direct access to him rather than grounds to sue. The clash adds to the ongoing public feud between Netanyahu and former heads of the internal security service, a dispute that has drawn wide attention in Israeli politics.

Why now: A sitting prime minister publicly attacking a former security chief in an ongoing legal fight is a major political story in Israel.
