Original: Pinch your nose, close your eyes, do what you need to. But Man City vs PSG was first-class sport
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain produced a Champions League clash that is being called first-class sport, whatever its flaws. The New York Times argues fans should pinch their nose, close their eyes and do what they need to, but still acknowledge the football itself was of the highest quality. The match is drawing attention for combining high drama on the pitch with off-field baggage around both clubs.
Why now: The high-profile Champions League meeting between two of Europe's richest clubs generated strong reactions and debate about its quality versus its controversies.
