Eisenkot pledges to destroy Hamas within 18 months as PM
Original: Eisenkot pledges to destroy Hamas 'within 18 months of becoming prime minister' at Gaza border
Israeli political figure Gadi Eisenkot, speaking at the Gaza border, pledged to destroy Hamas within 18 months of becoming prime minister. The statement ties his prospective leadership platform directly to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, framing a specific, time-bound military goal against the group and positioning security policy at the centre of his candidacy.
Why now: Ongoing war in Gaza and Israeli election politics make statements by potential prime ministerial candidates highly newsworthy.
