YouTube Music is introducing dedicated AI labels that appear directly below a track's title, flagging songs that were generated or altered using artificial intelligence. The move comes as streaming platforms confront a flood of automated uploads, with rival Deezer reporting that AI-generated tracks now make up more than half of its daily uploads, around 90,000 tracks per day. The labels aim to help listeners identify synthetic content as AI music spreads across streaming services.

Why now: Streaming services are struggling with a surge of AI-generated music uploads and listeners want transparency about what they are hearing.
