Ducks sign defenseman Tristan Luneau to six-year extension

Original: Ducks' Tristan Luneau is ready to live up to expectations after surprising extension https://www. nytimes.com/athletic/7

The Anaheim Ducks have signed defenseman Tristan Luneau to a six-year, $43.2 million contract extension, a notable commitment given his limited NHL experience so far. The move has drawn attention as a bet on the young blue liner's potential, and Luneau says he is ready to live up to the expectations that come with the new deal as Anaheim continues building around its young core.

Why now: The size and length of the extension are surprising given Luneau's limited track record, sparking debate about the Ducks' confidence in him.
