Spanish poet's banned work becomes epic film 'La bola negra'
Original: la bola negra
A new film, 'La bola negra', adapts the work of a Spanish poet whose writing was banned and censored under Spain's regime, turning it into an epic movie. Reports note the contrast between the work's suppression in the past and its new life on screen, and audiences are discussing both the film and the history behind the banned poetry it draws on.
Why now: A major adaptation of censored Spanish poetry has just reached screens, drawing attention to the poet's history and the film's release.
