Guardian column praises Sally Rooney's stance on Palestine
Original: Sally Rooney’s stand on Palestine is brave and humane https://www. theguardian.com/books/2026/oct /15/sally-rooneys-stan
The Guardian has published a column describing Irish author Sally Rooney's public position on Palestine as brave and humane, framing her activism in the context of ongoing debate over Palestine Action, UK counterterrorism law and cultural boycotts. Rooney, one of the most prominent novelists of her generation, has previously faced criticism and support for her pro-Palestinian statements, and the piece adds to a wider literary-world discussion about writers' political activism.
Why now: Rooney remains a high-profile literary figure whose Palestine activism continues to draw commentary and controversy.
