New Wayland desktop brings skeuomorphic design to Linux
Original: Wayland desktop for Linux with skeuomorphic design
A developer has released DEsk, a desktop environment for Linux built on Wayland that uses skeuomorphic design, reviving the pre-flat-era visual style with realistic textures and depth. The project is available on GitHub, and commenters are debating whether the retro aesthetic could find a place in the modern Linux desktop landscape.
Why now: Skeuomorphic design is rare in modern Linux desktops, so a new Wayland-based take is drawing curiosity and nostalgia.
