Americans split into just two camps on data centers, survey finds
Original: There are ‘six Americas’ on climate change, but only two on data centers
New analysis suggests that while Americans fall into six distinct groups when asked about climate change, their views on data centers divide into only two camps. The findings highlight how data center expansion, driven by AI growth, has become a sharply polarizing but simpler issue than climate politics, with people either largely supportive or opposed to new facilities.
Why now: Data centers are drawing fresh scrutiny because of their energy and water demands amid the AI boom.
