New Report Outlines Alaska Aquaculture Vision
Original: New Report Summarizes Alaska Aquaculture Vision
NOAA has released a new report summarizing a vision for the future of aquaculture in Alaska. The report lays out goals for developing sustainable fish and shellfish farming in the state, an industry that has historically been limited compared to its wild-catch fisheries. It is likely to interest fishermen, coastal communities and policymakers weighing how marine farming could fit into Alaska's ocean economy.
Why now: Fresh federal guidance on expanding aquaculture in a state long defined by wild fisheries draws attention from industry and coastal stakeholders.
