Original: Norway fines Microsoft's Xandr $9.6M over Grindr data sharing
Norwegian authorities have fined Microsoft's advertising company Xandr $9.6 million over the sharing of Grindr user data, according to a Reuters report. The penalty relates to how data from the gay dating app was shared for advertising purposes, keeping a spotlight on privacy enforcement in Norway following earlier action against Grindr itself.
Why now: Ongoing regulatory scrutiny of ad-tech firms and the handling of sensitive dating app data has drawn public and industry attention.
