President Trump says the Pentagon will not livestream the execution of the Fort Hood shooter after bipartisan backlash against the plan. Critics, including concerns tied to Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth's involvement, called the proposal deeply disturbing. The reversal came quickly, with lawmakers from both parties condemning the idea of broadcasting a federal death penalty execution to the public.

Why now: The proposed livestreaming of a military execution sparked rare bipartisan backlash, prompting a swift policy reversal.
