Trump calls off livestream of Fort Hood shooter's execution
Original: Trump calls off livestream of Fort Hood attacker's execution by firing squad
President Trump has cancelled plans to livestream the execution by firing squad of the Fort Hood attacker. The decision drew immediate attention because televised executions are extremely rare, and the case remains one of the deadliest attacks on a US military installation. Discussion is focused on the extraordinary nature of the reversal and the questions it raises about transparency in federal executions.
Why now: The unprecedented cancellation of a livestreamed federal execution by the president is a striking and unusual decision.
