Federal prosecutors in Miami have urged a judge to impose life sentences on the Alexander brothers, arguing their crimes constituted serial rapes spanning several years. The sentencing recommendation has renewed discussion about the scope of the allegations and how long the alleged abuse went unpunished.

Why now: The sentencing hearing is imminent, making the prosecution's recommendation for life imprisonment the latest development in a closely followed case.
