Trump cancels livestream of US military execution for Fort Hood killer

President Trump has cancelled plans to livestream the US military execution of the Fort Hood shooter, reversing what would have been the first broadcast execution in modern American history. The condemned serviceman killed 13 people in the 2009 shooting at the Texas army base. The decision has drawn attention for its timing and lack of a detailed public explanation.

Why now: The reversal of a plan for the first-ever livestreamed US execution is an unprecedented and controversial move.
