Amputee's $900 Emergency Appeal Raises Concerns Online
Original: 🚨💔 URGENT UPDATE: I’VE SIGNED THE FINAL PAPERS FOR MY FOOT AMPUTATION! 😭🩹 My dear friends, I have only 48 hours to raise
A social media user says doctors have scheduled a foot amputation and that they signed the final papers, giving themselves 48 hours to raise $900 in donations before the operation. The emotional plea, written in English and shared from a Middle East-labelled account, asks followers for urgent financial help and mentions preparing a burial shroud. Observers have questioned its authenticity, as urgent small-dollar medical appeals of this kind are a common form of online donation fraud.
Why now: The urgent fundraising appeal is circulating widely and readers are weighing whether to donate or flag it as a likely scam.
