RSF defections reshape Sudan's fragmented battlefield
Original: How RSF defections are reshaping Sudan’s fragmented battlefield
Reports say growing defections from Sudan's Rapid Support Forces are changing the balance of the country's civil war, with fighters leaving the paramilitary group and altering front lines across contested areas. Analysts suggest the departures reflect shifting momentum on the battlefield between the RSF and the Sudanese army, with consequences for control of territory and the course of the conflict.
Why now: Ongoing fighting in Sudan makes any shift in defections and battlefield control highly newsworthy.
