Houthis strike Yemeni presidential palace amid campaign against Saudi Arabia
Original: Iran-aligned Houthis strike Yemeni presidential palace in escalating campaign against Saudi Arabia
Iran-aligned Houthi forces have struck the Yemeni presidential palace, part of what the group describes as an escalating campaign against Saudi Arabia. The attack marks a significant intensification of hostilities in Yemen's conflict, with the palace in Aden seen as a symbol of the internationally recognised government backed by the Saudi-led coalition. Observers warn the strike could further destabilise the country and inflame regional tensions.
Why now: A direct attack on the seat of Yemen's government signals a dangerous escalation in the Saudi-Iran proxy conflict.
