Dutch police in Amsterdam seized a server belonging to Italian internet provider Autistici/Inventati from a data center. Authorities are reportedly creating a digital image of the server's data to hand over to US authorities under an American legal request. Autistici/Inventati is a long-running collective hosting activist and alternative projects, and the seizure has drawn attention among digital rights and privacy observers.
Why now: Concerns about cross-border law enforcement access to activist-hosted data are renewing debate over digital privacy and international legal cooperation.
