Original: Norse Book Club: The Saga of Burnt Njal
A Norse-themed book club is reading Njal's Saga, the medieval Icelandic epic centered on a long cycle of feuds, legal disputes, and a fatal burning. Often considered the greatest of the Icelandic sagas, the work is being revisited by readers interested in Old Norse literature and medieval Scandinavian history.
Why now: Renewed interest in Norse literature and medieval history has drawn readers to classic Icelandic sagas.
