Jazz pianist Bill Charlap, born October 15, 1966, is being highlighted for his album "Bill Charlap Plays George Gershwin," a record devoted to the American composer's songbook. The attention comes alongside a 2005 illustration of Charlap by artist Danny Hellman, originally created for the now-defunct New York Press, recirculating interest in the pianist's interpretations of Gershwin standards.
Why now: A resurfaced piece of editorial artwork has renewed attention on the jazz pianist and his Gershwin recordings.
