SF Founder's Zombie Game Puts Tenderloin Residents in Crosshairs
Original: SF Tech Founder’s Zombie Shooter Game Turns Tenderloin Residents Into Targets
A San Francisco tech founder is facing criticism over a zombie shooter game that casts Tenderloin residents as targets, according to SFist. The game reportedly lets players shoot at zombies modeled on people from the heavily stigmatized downtown neighborhood, drawing accusations that it demeans an already vulnerable community struggling with homelessness and drug issues.
Why now: Critics see the game as dehumanizing a neighborhood already associated with homelessness and addiction, making it a flashpoint over tech culture's treatment of San Francisco's most vulnerable residents.
