Epic Games ships launcher built with AI
Original: Epic Games ships AI-built launcher
Epic Games has released a new version of its game launcher that was built with the help of AI tools. The company says the software was developed largely through AI-assisted coding, a notable step for a piece of infrastructure used by millions of Fortnite and Epic Games Store players. The move is drawing debate among developers about whether AI-written production software at major game companies marks a shift in how studios build tools.
Why now: A major game company publicly shipping AI-built production software fuels ongoing debate about AI replacing traditional coding work.
