Tesla shows off Roadster with SpaceX thruster option
Original: Tesla unveils 'flying' Roadster with SpaceX thrusters [video]
Tesla has presented a new version of its Roadster sports car equipped with small rocket thrusters derived from SpaceX technology, which the company says could dramatically boost acceleration and even give the car short hops off the ground. The demonstration has drawn widespread attention, with commenters debating whether the 'flying car' framing is realistic or marketing hype, and how such a feature could ever be road-legal.
Why now: The claim that a production car could use rocket thrusters to fly is an attention-grabbing blurring of Tesla and SpaceX technology.
