Trump claims 'France is burning' while easing sanctions pressure on Russia
Original: le monde
Donald Trump and JD Vance have repeatedly claimed that 'France is burning' in response to recent violence in the country, a characterisation widely quoted and contested in French media. At the same time, Trump has exempted Russia from new sanctions, a move drawing attention from European outlets. The French newspaper Le Monde is among the most searched news sources in France and Germany amid the coverage.
Why now: Trump's dramatic comments about France and his policy shift on Russia sanctions are dominating news coverage in Europe.
