Huckabee Urges Israel to Prosecute Settler Attack on US Photojournalist
Original: Huckabee: Israel Must Prosecute Settler 'Terror' Attack on U.S. Photojournalist
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has called on Israel to prosecute settlers involved in what he described as a terror attack on an American photojournalist. The statement is notable given Huckabee's longstanding alignment with Israeli settler movements, and it has intensified discussion in Israel and the United States about settler violence against journalists and Washington's expectations that Israel hold perpetrators accountable.
Why now: Huckabee, a strong pro-Israel figure, breaking with expectations to demand prosecution of settlers is unusual and politically significant
