Sports commentator Sérgio Maurício ordered to pay Erika Hilton damages
Original: maurício
Brazilian sports narrator Sérgio Maurício has been ordered to pay compensation to congresswoman Erika Hilton over transphobic remarks, CartaCapital reports. The name Maurício is drawing attention in Brazil for several unrelated reasons at once, including reports on actor Maurício Mattar's debts and reality TV figure Mauricio Umansky discussing his departure from Special Forces and his daughter's revelation of a past assault.
Why now: Multiple news stories involving people named Maurício broke around the same time, with the Hilton ruling likely drawing the most attention.
