US ambassador urges Israel to prosecute attackers of American journalist
The United States ambassador to Israel has called on Israeli authorities to prosecute those responsible for attacking an American journalist. The appeal puts a spotlight on Israel's handling of violence against members of the press, and is drawing attention amid broader scrutiny of press freedom and the safety of journalists covering the region.
Why now: A senior US diplomat publicly pressuring Israel over violence against a journalist is a rare and politically charged intervention.
