Meta removes No Kings Instagram account on day of mass protests
Original: Zuckerberg's Meta Takes Down No Kings Instagram During Protest Day
Meta took down the Instagram account of No Kings, the activist movement behind nationwide anti-Trump protests, on the very day large demonstrations were held across the United States. Organisers and supporters say the timing amounts to censorship of a protest movement and are demanding the account be restored. Critics point to Meta's history of content moderation controversies involving political speech. The company's handling of politically sensitive accounts is once again under scrutiny.
Why now: The removal coincided with the No Kings protest day, raising concerns that Meta is suppressing political activism at a critical moment.
