Original: Abdul El-Sayed disavows Muslim Brotherhood and criticizes implications that he has ‘dual loyalty’
Abdul El-Sayed, a Michigan Democrat running for US Senate, publicly disavowed the Muslim Brotherhood and pushed back against suggestions that he holds 'dual loyalty' as a Muslim American candidate. He condemned efforts to tie him to the organization as an attack on his identity, arguing such insinuations reflect a broader pattern of suspicion directed at Muslims in American public life.
Why now: He is a high-profile Senate candidate facing scrutiny over his faith, making his response a talking point in a contested race.
