Urban trees cope with stress better than rural ones
Original: Pampered city trees deal with stress better than their country cousins https:// lemmy.ca/post/72517627
A recent finding shared online suggests that pampered city trees handle stress better than their rural counterparts. The idea challenges assumptions that trees in natural settings are hardier: urban trees, often watered, pruned and protected, may be more resilient to drought and heat stress. Discussion is centering on what this means for urban forestry and climate adaptation planning.
Why now: The counterintuitive finding that tended urban trees outperform wild ones sparks discussion about climate resilience and urban greening.
