Huckabee condemns settler attack on Washington Post photographer
Original: Huckabee calls settler attack on Washington Post photographer a ‘despicable act of terror’
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has called an attack by Israeli settlers on a Washington Post photographer a 'despicable act of terror'. The remark is notable coming from a senior US official known for strongly pro-Israel positions, and it has drawn attention to rising violence against journalists in the West Bank. Reactions are divided between those praising the strong language and those questioning its implications for US-Israel relations.
Why now: The unusually harsh language from a staunchly pro-Israel US official toward Israeli settlers is striking and politically sensitive.
