Haze forces Singapore runners indoors as families seek clean air
Original: Haze in Singapore: Runners train in mall, families head for indoor playgrounds
Thick haze over Singapore is pushing residents indoors, with joggers training inside shopping malls and families taking children to indoor playgrounds instead of parks. The Straits Times reports the shift as air quality deteriorates, with people adjusting exercise routines and weekend plans to avoid prolonged exposure to polluted outdoor air. Outdoor activities across the city-state are being swapped for enclosed, air-conditioned alternatives.
Why now: Haze levels have worsened, and residents are reacting by moving exercise and family activities indoors.
