Junichi Tazawa Named Player-GM of BC Saitama

Original: 田澤純一

Japanese pitcher Junichi Tazawa, a former Boston Red Sox reliever, has been appointed general manager of BC Saitama in Japan's independent Baseball Challenge League, while continuing to play. The club announced the dual role, with Tazawa saying he will take on the challenge with full commitment while keeping his passion for pitching intact.

Why now: The unusual combination of serving as both an active player and general manager is drawing attention to the former MLB pitcher's new role.
