Pujara says consistency overrated for T20 top-order batters

Original: Pujara: 'Consistency Overrated for T20 Top-Order Batters,' Backs Samson to Rebound

Former India Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara has argued that consistency is overrated when judging top-order batters in T20 cricket, and backed Sanju Samson to bounce back from recent failures. Pujara suggested the format's demands on strike rates and aggression make periodic misses inevitable, and said Samson retains the quality to regain form soon.

Why now: Pujara's counterintuitive take on a usually celebrated quality, plus his public support for the under-pressure Samson, is sparking debate among cricket fans.
