Bristol Old Vic brings free theatre into school classrooms

Bristol Old Vic is expanding its education outreach by bringing plays directly into classrooms, offering them free of charge. The theatre company says the move responds to an arts 'emergency', with financial pressures squeezing both household and school budgets and cutting young people's access to live performance. The initiative aims to keep theatre reachable for children who might otherwise never see it.
Why now: Funding pressures on schools and the arts have made access to theatre a live concern, and the company's free classroom programme is a direct response.
